Plastic Photo Shoot Awareness

By May 21, 2010Uncategorized

After spending 31 days at sea with the 5 Gyres crew, I was shocked at seeing so much plastic in the ocean. The entire Atlantic ocean was filled with plastic debris particles. Everyday I try my hardest to avoid using plastics and, sadly, 9 out of 10 days I fail. How pathetic is that?  Long story short, since this boat trip I have been very inspired and have been wanting to do a “Plastic” fashion shoot. I asked my talented friend and photographer, Angela Izzo if she wanted to create a fun shoot with me and she quickly jumped aboard. Angela recruited a phenomenal and creative crew of women to help out.  Local Ventura artist, Jessica Bodner designed and created a jellyfish installation and fashion made entirely out of plastic for the shoot as well as donated the use of her studio, Los Angeles Based Hair Stylist Whitney Willison designed and styled the hair incorporating plastic trash and Make-up artist, Kat Pulido also from L.A. designed and applied the make-up looks. Michelle Evans was our lovely assistant. All work was done on a volunteer basis.
