Who is the camp for?
- All skill levels welcome: beginners through advanced.
Do you offer adaptive Surfing Lessons?
- We offer adaptive surfing lessons for people with physical, sensory, or cognitive disabilities, including one‑on‑one or small-group coaching, both in and out of the water, with specialized equipment and tailored lesson plans to match each participant’s abilities and goals.specialized equipment and trained instructors to provide safe, inclusive lessons.
When does camp start and end?
- Morning session: 8:30-11:30am
- Afternoon Session: 12-3:00pm
What should I bring?
- Swimsuit, towel, sunscreen,, water bottle, snacks, hat, change of clothes, light jacket, flip-flops. We provide boards, leashes, and wetsuits as needed.
What is provided?
- Surf lessons, boards, wetsuits, on-site safety gear, basic instruction materials. Friday is always trophy and pizza day.
Do you offer rentals or private lessons?
- Yes. Ask at booking for private lessons, extra sessions, or equipment rentals.
What if I’m a beginner or nervous?
- Inform our instructors ahead of time. We start on land with safety and technique, then move to gentle waves in supervised groups. We will slowly introduce you to the ocean so you feel comfortable.
Is there a minimum age?
- Minimum age varies by session; typically 4+. However, we understand some children are ready earlier. Please reach out to ensure we can accommodate your child.
What about safety and instructors?
- All sessions are supervised by experienced ocean safe instructors. We enforce hands-on instruction, buddy systems, and local surf safety guidelines. There is always a beach instructor on land assisting with those students who are not in the water and waiting for their turn.
What happens if the weather is bad?
- We monitor conditions daily. If surfing is unsafe, we offer alternative activities or reschedule lessons when possible.
What is your refund/cancellation policy?
- We typically do not offer refunds within one week of camp, but we understand that things do happen and will do our best to accommodate.
How do I pay or change my booking?
- Payments via credit card or online portal. To change dates or transfer a booking, contact us as soon as possible — changes are subject to availability. You may also change on the Sawyer app.
I want to pay cash?
- We do offer a cash discount. Please contact us prior to booking.
What about health or medical issues?
- Please disclose relevant medical conditions when booking.
Do I need experience with swimming?
- Yes and no— basic comfort in the water and ability to swim are required. We provide life vests and 1:1 instruction for those who need more assistance and don’t know how to swim. If you’re unsure, contact us to discuss your level.
What about food and allergies?
- Please disclose any food restrictions or allergies.
Where is camp held?
- Main camp: Oil Piers beach at the very north end of PCH in Ventura. You can google map Oil Piers Beach
- Mini younger kid camp: Oil Piers but subject to change to Mondos if conditions are not favorable.
- Private lessons: Typically Mondos Beach. Your instructor will verify location.
